Scams and Cybersecurity
Representatives from the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) and
CERT NZ (New Zealand's Computer Emergency Response Team)
will be talking to us about scams and cybersecurity.
Scams have skyrocketed in the last few years, with kiwi's losing an estimated 198 million
to scams in 2023 alone. The Financial Markets Authority (FMA) are here to assist you to
become more scam savvy. Representatives from the FMA will talk about the characteristics of
investment scams, the types of investment scams we are seeing in New Zealand and
how FMA responds to scams.
CERT NZ are the primary contact point for reporting cybersecurity incidents in the country.
CERT NZ helps businesses, organizations, and individuals understand cyber threats,
respond to attacks, and improve their overall cybersecurity posture. Our goal is to make
New Zealand a more secure and resilient place in the digital world. We will talk about what services
we offer and some simple tips people can use to thwart hackers and scammers.
